My Daughter

For those of you that don't know my daughter, Jade, you're missing out.

My wife just showed me two math tests that she did at school. The first one was a bunch of addition and subtraction problems. Nailed it; 100%. This test was intended to see if she was ready to start on multiplication. Since she got 100% on adding and subtracting the teacher gave her a multiplication test. Nailed it; 100%. She's 8. I taught her multiplication a couple of months ago after she complained to me that school was too easy. It was hardly a challenge for her. She learned the basics in 20 minutes. I let her suffer for a while doing it the hard way and then I showed her the multiplication table. She didn't take to it right away but her test results suggest that she has worked on it independently. She'll be burning through algebra by next year.

I am amazed, daily, by her abilities.

The other day she finished reading the first Harry Potter novel. She's 8. I know too many adults that couldn't get through a novel.

I wish I could think of a way to challenge her more. She soaks up and assimilates information with such speed that it makes my head swim. She shows interest in math, reading, science (we do Electronics Lab together sometimes), language, art, music.

Her abilities don't stop at the academics either. She's a social butterfly. She's a leader. She's a tall, thin, blond-haired, blue-eyed, beautiful person.

On deck for Jade in the next couple of years I have plans for karate, piano, spanish, algebra, and smalltalk.

If I can somehow manage to keep her away from crank, smack, and impregnation for the next 17 years she will be poised to take over the world. And I firmly believe that the world would be a better place with Jade in charge.
