As I was driving south to meet up with the birthday boy, I realized that I had forgotten to brush my teeth. And I had just eaten a double quarter pounder with onions. I started stressing about it; considered driving back home. Then I remembered I had a brand-new toothbrush still in the car from the last visit to the dentist.
I was listening to music and singing along. I thought it would be cool if we ended up at a bar doing karaoke because I was in the mood to sing. We went to Leilani Lanes because some of the partygoers had reserved a couple of lanes for Rock 'n' Roll Bowling. It just so happened that there were too many participants and the lanes were sold out for the night. So I go into the lounge and find karaoke. Not just any karaoke, but really good karaoke. You can judge a karaoke night by the size of the track list binder. And these binders were 1 1/2 inch binders. I sang Epic by Faith No More and Lola by The Kinks.
After many beers and a few hours we were at a different bar discussing what we should do next. I mentioned that all I wanted to do right now is get some grub. Not five minutes later a pizza delivery guy came into the bar. Somebody had ordered 5 pizzas and left before they arrived. So the delivery guy was selling the pizzas at clearance prices.
I had been carrying around my toothbrush in my breast pocket the entire evening; the bristles poking out of the top. It is now my good luck toothbrush
It was a magical evening. It was as if all I had to do was envision what I wanted and it appeared.
