On some random forum I see somebody's signature contains one of my favorite Pink Floyd lyrics:

"did you exchange and walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage."

On a whim I google the entire line and end up reading about different interpretations of the lyrics in this song. I've known for years that the album was about Syd Barrett but I realized I've never read the Syd Barrett story. Off to wikipedia I go. The article mentions the first demo PF recorded was called Arnold Layne.

Back to google to see if I can find an mp3 sample to listen to. I find something much better. David Gilmour is releasing an Arnold Layne EP on xmas day containing two live versions of the song with one version featuring David Bowie on vocals.

Now I can't remember ever hearing any of Syd's music. I shall use lala.com to rectify this.

Gotta get back to the web...
