Last week ripper develeped a sort of noise in the power supply fan. "No big deal", you say? Oh, I failed to mention that it's a baby AT power supply. So I can't easily replace the whole power supply. Luckily, I think the fan inside can be replaced. If not, I'll just have to pick me up a new Athlon 2500+. That would break my heart.
ripper wasn't serving much of a purpose presently. My attempt to install Gentoo on ripper failed because gcc wouldn't compile. Of course, on a K6-2 333 it takes all night just to fail. Bleh. I so wish Be hadn't dropped the ball.
In happier news, mandrake(my fastest desktop/server), got a face-lift.
2 of those hard drives you see are going to eventually be an IDE software RAID, level 1. I am having a bit of trouble with this project too. For some reason the ATA controller card uses IRQ 11 and this is causing some trouble with my sound card that also wants to use IRQ 11. I thought Plug 'n' Play was supposed to alleviate the need to fuck with IOs and IRQs and shit. Knowing me I don't have Plug-n-Pray enabled in my kernel.
